Client Story: Move vs. Stay

A 92 year old women fell in her backyard on her return from the grocery store. This fall resulted in a fractured left hip which sent her to the hospital with weeks of rehab and recovery. She is making good progress, but this unleashed a torrent of emotions and reactions.

“I don’t want to go back home and be by myself. I’ve lived in this house for 60 years, since my daughter started kindergarten.”

This is what my client told me. But is she now able to get to her bedroom? Bathroom? What equipment does she have and what does she need to help her get on and off the toilet or in and out of the bathtub?

Unfortunately my client is not the only one who needed to answer these questions.

Through our in-home assessment we determined her short and long term goals. Together we assessed if she can stay in her home for 6 months and beyond.
